Alize is French for the warm steady Tradewinds that sailors dream of.
Alize is also my name, and I love making dresses out of seashells and wearing lunch hats that I can fill with jelly sandwiches.

My mother started Alize/Tradewinds in 1992, and when I was a child we worked together designing the most innovative,
fun, and comfortable clothing on the planet. When I turned 12, I outgrew Alize/Tradewinds, and my mother went back to designing houses.

Last year I turned 17 and found that I missed designing clothes, and started this small collection, A Hug and a Kiss , and have had local success.
I have kept the distinctive lines of my mother's Alize/Tradewinds but I have fun and always look for a nice twist of pure imagination. The A Hug and a Kiss hat and scarf set has a new little spark that gives me pleasure, and I sit back and laugh,
wondering why no one has ever thought of this before. A scarf that gives a hug is something every child, young or old, would enjoy.
This is my first season and I have a small production crew we call "The hug maniac moms from Minnesota"
who are wonderful sewers and love their work. We are enjoying A Hug and a Kiss collection, and hope you will too.
